PUPPET WITHOUT STRINGS

I am nobody, and I am everybody. I am anyone. I am you, and I am myself. 

 

Let's start off from the basics: I'm a human being. 

That's practically the same thing as saying I am a feminist, because what human being doesn't want equal rights for themselves and the people around them? That also means I am against any form of racism, homophobia, sexism and discrimination because, again, what human would enjoy the constant repression of another fellow creature?

 

I'm the girl that goes on feminist rants in the middle of the lesson, probably getting into a fight with a mysogynistic teacher. I'm the boy who wears nail polish to school because he refuses to label himself and confine his life into gender sterotypes. I'm the thousands of protesters crowding the streets with simply one message to spread:  'BLACK LIVES MATTER', marching and thinking how insane it is that they're defending their own lives. I'm the tears that you shed when yet another transgender kid commits suicide because society couldn't adapt. I'm the rainbows and fireworks lighting the sky of the United States on June 26th 2015. Those infinite words you let pour out of your mind and onto those pages in the middle of the night. The shooting stars you used to dream upon when you were a kid, holding onto mere hope. The existential doubts and unanswered questions you share with your best friend as you stare at the skies above you. 

 

Most importantly, I'm just another puppet, held by the strings that make up our society. Slowly, one by one, I wish to cut these strings and finally fly free, become the puppet without strings.
